You've come to the realization that you want to date men. Perhaps you're a young man just coming into his sexuality or you're an older guy finally recognizing your true desires. Either way you probably feel great about yourself and you're excited to date another man for the first time. I assume you're here for a little advice on how to make that work and I hope I can provide what you need. Read on and find out how to make dating a gay man work.
There are other articles on the site that deal with how to find a man so we'll largely skip over that. As a first timer it might be a good idea to date someone that doesn't have a ton of experience. That way you'll be going through the same type of experience and can find common ground there. Other than that you can largely go with what sort of guy turns you on or you can have tons of first dates with all sorts of guys to find out what turns you on.
Let's get down to brass tacks with regards to a first date. You need to be able to talk so skip over something like the movies or a loud bar and go for a coffee shop or a walk through the park. The point of the first date is to get to know someone and talking is the only good way to do that. A fancy restaurant typically isn't a great choice. That should be left for further into the relationship where it will feel special and romantic. Your mission on the date should be to get to know the guy. Don't be thinking about gay sex or whether or not you should kiss. Just think about getting to know him. If you let that guide the experience it will be far more rewarding for both of you.
When you're on the date make sure you listen and engage him in conversation. Pay attention to what he's saying and ask questions. Relay stories that have to do with what he's talking about. Smile lots and make eye contact. Lean in when he's talking. Don't cross your arms like you're bored or annoyed. He'll likely be doing the same things and you can make a genuine connection as you get to know each other and build a relationship.
When the date is over you have many choices. Since this is your first time dating another man you're probably not going to push for sex but there's no reason you can't kiss him. At the very least you should thank him for the date and if you want to see him again go ahead and ask right there. If he's not interested he'll let you down easy and if he is then you'll have another date ready to go before you know it. For the second date you can try a fancier restaurant or a more involved outing to amp things up a bit. At that point you just have to trust your instincts and have fun.
